Privacy policy

SGVE is a non-commercial gaming community. This page explains what data this website and the SGVE game servers process, why, and what your options are.

What we process and why

• Website access logs. The web host records the IP address, browser type, requested page and time of every request. We use these logs only to keep the site running, to fix broken links and to block abuse. They are kept for a limited time and are not combined with other data.
• Steam sign-in. You can sign in with your Steam account (Steam OpenID). We receive and store your SteamID, public nickname and avatar URL. We never see your Steam password. A session cookie keeps you signed in; it is deleted when you log out or when it expires.
• Game servers. When you play on an SGVE server, the server logs your SteamID, nickname, IP address, playtime and chat messages, as every Garry's Mod or Minecraft server does. This is needed to run the servers, enforce the rules and handle bans.
• Bans. Active bans and the ban history are published on the bans page with the nickname, SteamID, reason, duration and the admin who issued or lifted the ban. This keeps moderation transparent for all players.
• Ranks and donors. The ranked player list shows the nicknames of admins and donors together with the validity of their donor rank.
• Donations. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details and e-mail address; we never see the card number. We receive the payment identifier, amount, chosen package and the SteamID the rank belongs to, and we keep this record for as long as the rank and the accounting rules require.
• Web chat. Messages written in the web chat are relayed to the game servers and shown to other players together with your Steam nickname.

Cookies and third-party services

• Strictly necessary cookies: the session cookie for Steam sign-in and your language choice.
• Google AdSense. We show ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to measure ad performance and, where you have agreed, to personalise ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage your preferences in Google Ads Settings. In the EU/UK you can decline personalised ads in the consent dialog shown by this site.
• Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies on the checkout page for fraud prevention.
• Flag Counter. The visitor counter in the footer receives your IP address to determine your country; no further data is stored by us.
• Steam, Facebook. Links to Steam Community and Facebook pages take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Legal basis (GDPR)

We process data to provide the servers and the website you asked for (contract), to keep them secure and fair for all players (legitimate interest), to meet accounting obligations (legal obligation) and, for advertising cookies, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its processing by writing to info@sgve.eu. Game server logs and ban records may be kept where they are needed to enforce the rules. You also have the right to complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).

Children

The servers and this site are not aimed at children under 16. If you are younger, please ask a parent before signing in or donating.
